Visual Design Inspiration | Sawdust

Sawdust is a London-based creative partnership between close friends, Rob Gonzalez and Jonathan Quainton. Now in their 10th anniversary, the pair originally founded the company in 2006, after working together for two years on their national diploma in Graphic Design. Renowned for their innovative approach to typography and design, their projects always vary in style and audience, forcing the two to continually re-evaluate their creative process.

Continuing to collaborate on projects; the pair found a working-routine that has time and time again, grabbed the industries attention. With large-scale clients such as Esquire, Fast Company, NIKE and WIRED, the pair’s artistic direction has made a significant impact on typography design within typically restrictive markets. Quite recently, the pair released their custom typeface for LeBron James’ NIKE Basketball collection, gaining an enormous amount of attention from media. But in an interview with Design Boom, the two credited ‘Shanghai Ranking Numerals’ as being the project that had the strongest positive impact.
